Bio

Well, what can I tell you about me? I was born in Bogota and came to the U.S. when I was 14. I was completely culture shocked by this transition and I guess it ultimately had a great influence on defining who I am. In any case, a B.A. and an M.A, great friends, great experiences and 13 plus years later, I still haven’t been able to shake my culture shock off. I belong to these two places and, at the same time, don’t belong to either. The good thing is that I’m not alone and, for the last 7 years, I’ve had a person in the same position right by me… Ok, this is getting to personal. Let’s see, what else can I say? I paint and draw since I can remember and it comes as a great tool for communication when you are in the middle of two languages. I express different emotions and opinions through my paintings and sketches but when it comes to graphica (or graphic books), I guess I try to stick to the facts as much as I can. In Soaked in Blood, all the stories are based on real accounts. As much as I try to be impartial and tell it how it is, there are still personal emotions imprinted on the ink. That’s the beauty of graphic books. I guess that if I get the support necessary to keep doing graphic books, you can expect more books that deal with human rights and injustices, not only in Colombia but throughout the world. And when it comes to painting and drawing, what can you expect? I don’t know. Your guess is as good as mine.
